May 06th, 2008: Singer Fergie Sets Eyes on 'Fergie Inc.'
Watch out Gwen Stefani and JLo, here comes Fergie. The Grammy Award-winning songstress (a.k.a. - Stacy Ferguson) has already been a spokes model for Candie's shoes and MAC cosmetics and just recently launched her own bag line called Fergie for Kipling.

The 33-year-old says her latest bag collection was inspired by her high school years. "There’s tie-dye, there's Jerry Garcia, it’s groovy," she told OK! magazine. "My Chic Rocker [line] is more street-influenced. A bandana print really started that inspiration – each one starts off in kind of a pattern – so this started with the bandana."

When she's not busy writing songs and creating fashions, Fergie's busy planning her wedding to fiance Josh Duhamel, star of the hit NBC show, Las Vegas. Meanwhile, look for her at a theater near you when the Sex and the City movie comes out May 30. She wrote the film's theme song, Labels or Love.

Fergie said writing the song came easily because she was already a fan of the hit HBO series. "I was thrilled to do this song, I’ve been such a huge fan for so long," she told OK! "My mother and I would watch it religiously. So when I saw the movie, I got all of the references. I loved it." [Source]

May 06th, 2008: SunFest Diary: Fergie Gets The Party Rocking...Too Late
"Fergielicious," just like the fabulously cut Fergie sings in her signature hit, made the boys - and girls - at SunFest go loco. Keeping time with the erstwhile Stacy Ann Ferguson and her collection of dancers and grooving band members, the crowd at the WaMu Stage raised their arms and moved their hips in rhythmic joy and anticipation of the party that had just started and was sure to ignite further.

Too bad that was the last song.

Throughout her set, Fergie displayed all the appeal - and more - that's catapulted her from Black Eyed Pea girlie singer to bonafide ab-tastic cultural icon. She's got the hits - "London Bridge," the gorgeously retro "Clumsy," the emotionally naked and vocally impressive "Big Girls Don't Cry" and others. She's got dreamy blond tresses that moved in the post-rain shower wind as if Mother Nature was her personal special effects chief and a ridiculously muscular and curvy physique, a strong, clear singing voice and solid dance skills. Unfortunately none of that good conquered a weirdly uneven set list, jumbling exciting, upbeat numbers together with stagnant ones, making the energy swell promisingly and then flag disappointingly over and over again.

May 03rd, 2008: Fergie On 'Sex' Soundtrack
Former Black Eyed Peas star Fergie has recorded the opening song for the long-awaited 'Sex and the City' movie, and joins a string of other hit artists on the soundtrack.

Fergie's song, 'Labels or Love', was written by hit music producer Salaam Remi, who has previously worked with Amy Winehouse and the Fugees. The idea fo the soundtrack, according the film's producer Michael Patrick King, was "to create a soundtrack for the ultimate movie about love."

Fergie is excited about the song and the movie. "I grew up watching Sex and the City," she says, "and I know a lot of my girlfriends did as well. We felt like these characters were our friends, so to be a part of this project has been amazing. I'm such a fan of the show and am very flattered they asked me to be involved."

Other artists featuring on the soundtrack include 'Dreamgirls' star Jennifer Hudson (who also stars in the film as Carrie's assistant), India Arie, Al Green and jazz diva Joss Stone.

'Sex and the City: The Movie' hits cinemas in Australia on June 5. [Source]

May 03rd, 2008: OK! Interview: Fergie
Fergie is one "Glamorous" bag lady. The Grammy-winning superstar is launching her newest creations for her bag line, Fergie for Kipling, and gave OK! a sneak peek at the eclectic collection.

"The designs are about my high school years," she tells OK!. "There’s tie-dye, there’s Jerry Garcia, it’s groovy. That’s when I was able to just go down to Venice Beach – go with a really big bag with all my stuff in it and just walk around and just people watch."

And when she's not busy concocting designs, the 33-year-old is working on new tunes (including the Sex and the City movie theme) and planning her upcoming nuptials to Las Vegas star Josh Duhamel. Find out how she does it all!

What was the inspiration for launching a bookbag line?

The first bag design I did, I was basically in the mode of the Dutchess album, so I was using a lot of the elements that were in my mind – things that related to Dutchess. With this, there was a fresh palette and it was fun so I was thinking, “Let me go deeper, I want to go back to my high school years. And that’s what the designs are about.

How do they reflect your high-school years?
California Doll, that line is all about it. There’s tie-dye, there’s Jerry Garcia, it’s groovy. That’s when I was able to just go down to Venice Beach – go with a really big bag with all my stuff in it and just walk around and just people watch. It started off with the domino print, that’s from before that would be with kickbacks. Guys would be sitting around, playing dominoes, dollar bills crumpled up, everybody’s playing.

It would just be really fun and loud and just reminded me of back in the day. So we started playing with that idea – a gambler, a risk taker. And the colors that came to mind were reminiscent of race car driving, the bold colors. Chic Rocker is the third line, is more street influenced. A bandana print really started that inspiration – each one starts off in kind of a pattern – so this started with the bandana.

April 28th, 2008: Fergie sings theme song for Sex and the City movie
FERGIE, the Black Eyed Peas singer who forged a successful solo career with her debut album The Dutchess, was thrilled to record the theme song for Sex and the City: The Movie.

Fergie said singing Labels and Love for the film adaptation of the US TV show was an honour.

She said: “I was thrilled to do this song. I’ve been such a huge fan for so long. My mother and I would watch it religiously. The song completely fits the personalities of the girls – it’s kind of a love triangle between love, friends and fashion.”

Fergie – who is engaged to Las Vegas star Josh Duhamel – refused to confirm rumours one of the main characters dies in the film, due to hit cinemas worldwide at the end of May.

She added to America’s OK! magazine: “I saw the movie! But I can’t say anything about it!"

Sex and the City: The Movie sees Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis reunited for the first time since the show ended in 2004.

The film soundtrack is released in the US on May 27. [Source]

April 28th, 2008: Fergie To Sing Sex And The City Movie Theme, Pretend She Isn't 33
Fergie's all excited that she got to record the theme song to the movie adaptation of Sex And The City, and why wouldn't she be? After all, she "grew up" watching the show, like so many other young women. But isn't she 33? Didn't the show start in the summer of 1998, which would have made her 23 at the time? Seeing as how she was an ex-Kid Incorporated, banging JC Chasez, and in some stage of a meth addiction, wouldn't you consider that a rather old 23? Old enough that she was probably learning more from Samantha than from Carrie?

From a press release for the soundtrack:

[Producer Salaam] Remi wrote a brand-new opening number for the film, "Labels or Love," which, as sung by pop superstar Fergie, re-imagines the series' iconic theme as a fabulous pop song.

"I grew up watching Sex and the City," Fergie says, "and I know a lot of my girlfriends did as well. We felt like these characters were our friends, so to be a part of this project has been amazing. I'm such a fan of the show and am very flattered that they asked me to be involved."

The soundtrack also features a brand-new song from Oscar-winning diva Jennifer Hudson, who plays a personal assistant to Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) in the film. Hudson shows off her powerful pipes on "All Dressed in Love" (written by MC Jack Splash and Gnarls Barkley's Cee-Lo Green), which plays over the end credits. "Jennifer makes it almost impossible not to dance out of the theater," King says.

The remainder of Sex and the City: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is an eclectic mix of songs from such artists as Indie.Arie, Jem, Al Green and Joss Stone (with Stone's vocal recorded especially for the soundtrack), and indie bands Morningwood, The Bird & the Bee, and The Weepies. The disc also includes classics from Nina Simone and Run-D.M.C.
The soundtrack comes out May 27, three days before the movie. Fergie, you can do one-handed cartwheels! Take pride in your age. [Source]
