“As individuals, we’re misfits,” says Fergie, the sultry female singer of the Black Eyed Peas. “Together, we’re like one big misfit. People are always questioning who the hell we are.”It’s the day after the group’s May 6 performance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! Chilling out, she and fellow members of the multiracial group — Will.i.am, Taboo and apl.de.ap — resemble a live version of a United Colors of Benetton ad.With his close-cropped hair hidden under a red plaid cap, Will.i.am sits astride a black chair, pondering the question Fergie just answered: Who are the Black Eyed Peas? |

Fergie swigged bottles of wine while recording The E.N.D. so she could show fans what it’s like to party with the Black Eyed Peas. The band’s fifth studio album features the party-themed track Out Of My Head, which opens with Fergie slurring, “I’m so tipsy.”And pop star Fergie was determined to stay true to the lyrics, forcing her bandmates to guzzle booze with her in the studio. She explains, “This song reminds me of the fun character of (Black Eyed Peas’ 2005 song) My Humps. I told Will we have to get some wine if I’m going to do this correctly. I’m not going to front on this song. So we all got a little tipsy.” [Source] |

Published Date: 24 May 2009 IT IS, of course, a sunny day in Miami. At the back of one of the party town’s swishest hotels, the outdoor swimming pool is jumping. Techno and house music pounds from huge speakers, waiters ferry cocktails hither and thither, the palm fronds swish in the breeze. All around, sculpted, waxed pool bunnies in micro swimming costumes flaunt their heaving chests. The girls are something to look at, too. It’s barely lunchtime and already a miasma of booze, hormones and hedonism hangs around the hotel’s terrace. On the pull in the pool, a few couples are trying out their own take on the breaststroke. It’s spring break in America, the annual beachside alcoholiday rave-up for students and gym-toned, cosmetically enhanced idiots. This week Miami is also hosting the erroneously titled Winter Music Conference, the world’s biggest dance music festival. French house DJ David Guetta is here, as are electro-punk veterans The Prodigy and dayglo party-popsters The Ting Tings. British dance bible Mixmag, meanwhile, has taken over P Diddy’s mansion for four days of partying (and not much eating). |

American Idol’s five female finalists are singing Fergie’s “Glamorous,” they’re really vamping and it’s quite good, actually. Megan Joy just has natural attitude, Allison Iraheta is always great, Jasmine Murray looks great, Alexis Grace is a total pro and Lil Rounds can sing anything.Fergie then walks out, sings “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” She’s not bad, a bit short; and then Allison introduces the Black Eyed Peas, doing “Boom Boom Pow.”Whoah, not sure what happened, it cut to something else for like five seconds — profanity, or another of Idol’s patented technical glitches? Anyway, back to the zebra people running around stage. Their performance style is a bit herky-jerky, I never really get into it even though it’s interesting to watch. Fergie comes back out and rejoins her peeps.”That is why they’re #1,” says Ryan. Okay… I thought it was mediocore, audience didn’t seem super-into it either. [Source] |
